My first trial with high profile networking event was National Conference organized by Indore Management Association, Indore, I participated as a 21-year-old MBA Student wearing uniform, white shirt, tie and grey trouser. After that I represented my business school in top marketing/hr/brand summits and now I organize and participate in networking events with Insead and other b school’s alumni.
My understanding of networking was to collect as many visiting cards, feel euphoric that I have this boldness to walk up to anyone, interact and get his contact. And I want to leverage this for a new job, social status. This is like going close to elixir and yet not drinking 🙂 Meeting diverse set of people is the first step, what is more important is our ability to pick perspectives to get ideas and inspirations, later reflect, internalize to evolve as an individual.
You don’t have to wait for networking event to network, networking is happening at home with family members, over phone with friends, customer place or in office. One need to be mindful in every moment, be curious and observant to pick the elixir for your own diverse wellbeing.
